The Village square

If you like the mountains you will like Durcal. Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Only 30 minutes from the Ski Resort Village of Sierra Nevada this cottage has two berooms - 1 Double and  Lounge/Kitchen,Dining room and Shower room.  The Magical City of Granada is little more than 15 minutes up the road and the beaches of the Costa Tropical 20 minutes in the opposite direction .

The "Durcal bridge" - famous in these parts is close by and is resplendant at night when it is lit with a multitude of spotlights. The cottage is simple and built in the rustic mountain style and there are lots of interesting walks close by, through the olive groves and down to the river.

The charming mountain village of Durcal is a short walk from the Cottage, sit and drink coffee in the square and join the locals watching the world go by.

Here, you are on the very edge of the Alpujarra, made famous by Gerald Brenan in his acclaimed book "South From Granada" and of course the hundreds of writers who have followed in his wake. You will be able to explore 'til you drop.

It is impossible to tire of this fascinating area - every village is different from the next, every season, every walk - there is an abundance of wild life making the area a bird watchers paradise from Kestrels and Eagles to Hoopoe and Eagret and most don't migrate - whoever said birds have small brains!!! To make the most of the area you will need a car and the owners are pleased to offer advice. The owner is English and lives in her own house on the same land.
